Genius!! Francesca Woodman died in 1981 at the age of twenty-three, closing a brief career of extraordinary intensity. Her work was not designed to produce a spectacle, but to express intimacy, despair, fear and anguish, questioning the absence of the body. All her work shows an anxiety to camouflage herself, to disappear and get lost in scenes charged with solitude that at the same time shine surrounded with an aura: the light of sunset, of the farewell, of things coming to an end. In the majority of her photographs, the artist appears, in shadow, covering herself with painted wallpaper, smeared with mud, hiding her face, camouflaged as part of the furniture, smudged and out of focus.

like that's the point of photo - fuckin heathen!! art and all it's subtle nuances are just wasted on this man.... give him a surf and turf and send him to bed with a jamblock Just cos it's yer birthday doesny mean ye get away with comments of "Bod" like intelligence ya big gobshite ye! many people would enquire about the strange shadow and its relevance, or about the significance of the seat, why the nudity, how the light tones and composition give the photo an otherwordly ominous feel but Bubba (and god luv 'im) enquires after the curviness of the subject hips............for god sake man don't ever try to unravel the mysteries of a Gunther Forg painting. Now I am guessing this Woodman photo has something to do with life. death and rebirth given the multi faceted symbolism of the lily, the mirror and the tide coming in or out? but I am more than likely completely wrong as it could well be an exposition on why you shouldn't drink too much on a day out at the beach. ;D Pass the Jamiesons.....heh heh I mean McCallan 10 year old reserve.
